What is google voice? I have a google voice number which is an alternate phone number I give out to salespeople, stores etc.. calls that I do not want to pick up and goes directly to a google voicemail (or forwarded to my gmail). You have the option of changing the settings and have it call your cellphone and it would say "you have a call, press 1 to accept". You may then decide if you want to pick up or have it go straight to your vm. You may also choose numbers and area codes that are easier to remember (example, I was able to get my initials as my last 4 digit but it is not in my area code but it was still okay for me because it was easier to remember).
*You will need a gmail.com account to access your google voice. Its free so why not? You just have to use it once in a while (call yourself) or it may cancel the number if you leave it inactive for a year.
**Update 2022. I still have the same google voice number and it has lessened unnecessary calls (it has a block feature as well). Highly recommend it.
